Chelsea vs Servette 2-0: Glorious as Chelsea marks first victory of the season

In the first leg of their UEFA Conference League play-off match at Stamford Bridge, the Blues defeated their Swiss opponents Servette thanks to goals from Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke.

Chelsea defeated Swiss team Servette 2-0 at home in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League play-off at Stamford Bridge to earn their first victory of the year. Enzo Maresca’s halftime speech clearly had an impact because Chelsea much improved after the break and won thanks to goals from Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke. The Blues were jeered off at halftime with the game tied at zero.

Who scored the first goal for Chelsea?

After Servette goalkeeper Jeremy Frick took down Nkunku, the Frenchman was awarded a penalty kick and he wasted no time in scoring his first goal of the year from 12 yards out. After Pedro Neto arrived, Madueke’s future in west London is still up in the air. However, he made an impression from the bench when he gathered the ball at the back post, controlled it, and shot home with force with his weaker foot.

Chelsea finds a unique deal in Veiga.

At Stamford Bridge, wise transfer deals have been hard to come by during the Clearlake era, but adaptable defensive midfielder Renato Veiga appears to be a bargain at £12 million. After receiving his first appearance for the Blues at left-back, the 21-year-old Portugal youth international switched to a possession-based inverted midfield role in the middle of the pitch.

However, his temperament and physical presence were what really stood out. He was very strong for such a relatively inexperienced, fresh-faced prospect, both in the air and during duels. Maresca was very pleased with what he witnessed. He tried to guide Veiga through the game, offering instructions all the while on the near touchline.

Marc Guiu’s performace in the game Chelsea vs Servette

During Chelsea’s preseason tour of the United States, Marc Guiu left a lasting impact, especially in terms of his pushing. The 18-year-old striker, who was acquired from Barcelona, was a key component of Chelsea’s offensive line, connecting plays and opening up gaps for other attackers to exploit. However, Guiu mispronounced his lines and managed to create one of the worst errors this stadium has probably ever seen on his first official start for the Blues.

Madueke Scures a second goal for Chelsea FC

Chelsea vs Servette 2-0

Unless there is a dramatic turnaround, Madueke made his point off the bench by scoring a stunning second goal for Chelsea to end this two-leg contest. The former PSV sensation found his game late in the last campaign, but because of rumored Newcastle transfer interest, he has since dropped down Chelsea’s offensive hierarchy.

The 22-year-old outperformed teammate Mudryk to show that he can still be a good option for new manager Maresca from the flank, thus it seems foolish for the Blues to sell him.

Only Caicedo and Nkunku held onto their berths from the previous weekend due to Maresca’s heavy rotation, and Chelsea FC defeated Servette FC in the opening leg of the UEAF Conference League.
