Focus on young talent – Barcelona’s coach Hansi Flick terminates move for N’Golo Kanté
Hansi Flick has been praising Barcelona’s youthful talent ever since taking over as the first team coach. He expressed a desire to provide players from the youth academy with an opportunity to showcase their skills and gain a spot in the starting lineup.
Not only did Flick give the young players a ton of playing time throughout the preseason, but he also made some wise choices in the transfer market. In order to concentrate on young players like Marc Casadó and Marc Bernal, who have excelled thus far in preseason, Flick reportedly rejected a deal for French midfielder N’Golo Kanté in recent days, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.
According to the report, Kanté wants to leave his club in Saudi Arabia and return to Europe. Barça sporting director Deco quickly approached the player’s agents to propose a loan deal, but Flick, who prefers a squad rejuvenation and is pleased with Bernal and Casadó’s progress in the pivot position, quickly thwarted his advances.
According to the report, Flick chose a younger profile for Kanté despite the fact that he is 33 years old and demonstrated he still has enough of energy left in him during France’s exploits at Euro 2024.
Though Casadó and Bernal can help cover for the two stars until they are ready to return, Flick still hasn’t been able to train with Frenkie de Jong and Gavi, who are said to be his two favored alternatives for the pivot role once they return from injury.
Though a lot may still happen with about a month left in the transfer window, it appears that Barça is not in a rush to recruit a new holding midfield player and that Flick is passing up some big names in favor of investing in the young players.
