Bayern Munich 2-2 Real Madrid: Vinicius Junior scores twice sealing the tie

The champions league semi-finals first leg ends in a tie as Vinicius Junior equalizes last minute.

The first leg of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final ended in a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena. Although Real Madrid came in as the favorites, the match turned out to be very evenly matched. Leroy Sane’s speed on the left flank helped Bayern Munich get off to a much better start than the other team, giving Real Madrid several problems.

Vinicius Junior converts two window of opportunities

The Brazilian capitalized on two mistakes made by Kim Min-jae, the defender for Bayern. First, he outran him with speed and beat goalkeeper Manuel Neuer with a shot. Later, the South Korean fouled Rodrygo in the box, and Vinicius scored the penalty that followed.

Who were the goal scorer for Bayern Munich?

After Lucas Vazquez tripped Jamal Musiala in the box, England captain Harry Kane scored a penalty of his own, beating goalkeeper Andriy Lunin early in the second half. Leroy Sane, a teammate, had cancelled off Vinicius’ first goal with a thundering effort inside the near post minutes earlier.

How Sane powered through with a lightening goal

Through Sane, the first goal was scored. That was to be expected; all evening long, he had been the Bavarian club’s bright spot. Despite having to stay on the field after halftime due to an injury that prevented him from having muscle cramps, the forward scored a magnificent equalizer for the home team.

He entered the game from the right wing, dodging Real Madrid defenders before putting a low shot into the net. Before the Ukrainian could even see the shot, it was past Lunin, and he was nowhere close making another crucial stop.

The superb sync between Vinicius Junior and Toni Kroos

After Bayern failed to capitalize on their early dominance, Vinicius was sent in behind by a deft Toni Kroos through pass, and the game changed hands. Bayern was behind against the run of play despite having six shots and more than 60% of the action in the opening 20 minutes, with Kane and Sane having the best of the opportunities.

Half time substitute Thomas Tuchel made

At the break, Tuchel sacrificed Leon Goretzka in an attempt to provide greater stability on Sane’s flank. When Raphael Guerreiro was brought on, the Bavarian club began an astonishing comeback, and his impact was felt almost instantly.

However, a brutal four-minute stretch in the second half changed the course of the match and gave the German powerhouses their momentum back. They exerted pressure on Real and might have regretted not taking an earlier lead. Real Madrid was able to retake the lead in the 83rd minute when Kim made the careless error of pulling Rodrygo’s shirt. They will host the second leg at Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday.
